Le Mans Series 2007 at Silverstone

The Le Mans Series is six 1000km endurance races for sports cars based on the historic 24 Hours of Le Mans, visiting the classic race tracks of Monza, Nurburgring, Spa and Silverstone. The other 2 tracks visited during the 2007 series were Interlagos and Valencia.
There are 4 classes of cars on track at the same time, competing against cars in their class for a class win and for the overall race win.
The 4 classes of cars are: Prototype 1 (LMP1) which are the fastest and most technologically advanced sports cars in the world, Prototype 2 (LMP2) are smaller, lighter and slower than their P1 counterparts, LMGT1 is based on street cars, but heavily modified for racing and LMGT2 is close to production cars.
The manufacturers that can be found in each class include:
P1 - Peugeot with their diesel engined car, Pescarolo, Zytek, Creation, Lola and Courage
P2 - Radical, Lola, Zytek, Courage and Pilbeam
GT1 - Aston Martin, Corvette and Saleen
GT2 - Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette, Panoz and Spyker
At the end of the series the first and second placed cars in each class are given an automatic invitation to the Le Mans 24 hour race the following June.
